Two weeks can seem like a long time for children. Their attention spans are generally shorter than adults, therefore it can sometimes seem like a difficult task to keep them entertained. Especially over the Easter Holidays when they could also be hyped up on easter egg chocolate which doesn’t really help matters. However, fear not. Tagtiv8 have come up with one of our handy guides on how to cure boredom during the Easter holidays.

Easter Holidays Aren’t Just For Chocolate

Although we are REALLY into health and fitness - we’re not going to stand (or jog or jump or skip) here and tell you that you shouldn’t indulge in the treats that this time of year brings, because we’re neither killjoys nor hypocrites. Everything in moderation, right? However, we are going to remind you that chocolate is not the best treat that the Easter Holidays bring us. Easter marks the beginning of Spring, which really is a magical time of the year. Although it may have taken a little longer to kick in this year, you can definitely feel it in the air which means there is so much more to do! Days get longer, it’s a little bit warmer and new life is bursting everywhere. So without further ado, here are Tagtiv8’s Top Tips for the Easter Holidays

Wildlife Spotting

Spring really is a magnificent time for wildlife. The world starts to buzz again with animals - big and small - coming out of hibernation or becoming more active. New life also begins in Spring. Animals such as lambs, calves and bunnies are born in Spring. Why not take the children out to the local countryside (or travel further and explore somewhere new) and go lamb spotting? See how many baby animals you can see. Alternatively, check out the Guardian’s article on the best British farm attractions to visit. No doubt they will have a lot of season-appropriate activities planned.

Egg Decorating

Easter eggs don’t just have to made of chocolate. Get the whole family together and paint some actual eggs. It’s such a good way to keep children busy and really lets them show off their creativity. Egg decorating can be done simply or as complex as you like. We found this great video by Sarah Johnson that shows you how simple, yet effective egg decorating can be.

New Plants

Similarly to wildlife, mother nature really kicks into gear in the spring. There is an abundance of flowers and plants that start to pop out of the soil this time of year. Here are just a few:

• Daffodils
• Crocuses
• Bluebells
• Tulips

The Woodland Trust has a great list of flowers that grow in the wild here. Arrange a day to get some fresh air, stretch your legs and see what you can spot.

Egg Hunt

One of the most popular activities for this time of year - a good old fashioned egg hunt. You can do this around the house, in the garden or on a bigger scale. Cadbury’s and National Trust have teamed up to provide Easter egg hunts all over the country. You can find one near you here.

Recycle Some Good Ideas

Around Christmas, we did a blog post to help parents keep children active in the holidays. If the weather ends up being as unpredictable as it has been lately, it may be an idea to revisit this blog post as it’s more snow appropriate.
