Tagtiv8 and the New Ofsted Framework: One Approach, Six Opportunities

There are not many fans of Ofsted but even so, the framework exists in England.

Quite often, we have conversations with school leaders who say, “We love what you do, but we can’t engage with you until after Ofsted.” We can understand their reluctance, but if you think about it, Tagtiv8 can support schools across all 6 judgement areas.

The new Ofsted framework is asking schools to look closely at how effectively children achieve, belong and thrive. Could purposeful movement be part of your answer?

Since September 2026, schools are to be inspected through six core evaluation areas: Inclusion; Curriculum and teaching; Achievement; Attendance and behaviour; Personal development and wellbeing; and Leadership and governance.

For school leaders, the challenge isn't simply understanding the framework. It is turning priorities into practical approaches that make a genuine difference to children's everyday experience of school.

That's where moving AND learning can play an important role.

One approach. Six opportunities.

1. Inclusion
Tagtiv8 gives children different ways to access learning – combining movement, visual prompts, physical interaction, talk and collaboration. This can be particularly valuable for pupils who find traditional classroom approaches challenging. For teachers, moving AND learning can help them provide alternative routes into curriculum content.

2. Curriculum and teaching
Purposeful movement can be embedded into retrieval, repetition, vocabulary development, fluency and application. Tagtiv8 helps teachers turn curriculum content into active, memorable learning experiences.

3. Achievement
Learning doesn't stop when the teacher stops talking. Children need opportunities to practise, retrieve, apply and consolidate knowledge. Tagtiv8 provides a practical way to make these processes active and more engaging.

4. Attendance and behaviour
When children are actively involved in learning, there is less opportunity to become passive or disengaged. Purposeful movement can support participation, positive routines and engagement in the classroom and beyond.

5. Personal development and wellbeing
Movement, teamwork, communication, confidence and resilience are naturally woven into Tagtiv8 activities - supporting children as learners and as individuals.

6. Leadership and governance
Tagtiv8 can support a whole-school approach through professional development, ready-to-use lesson resources and an online portal, helping schools embed active learning rather than treating it as an occasional initiative.

Ofsted does not prescribe Tagtiv8 - nor should it. Schools need to choose approaches that reflect their own ethos, context, priorities and pupils. But in a changing inspection landscape, schools may be asking:

“How can we make learning more inclusive, engaging and active, while supporting various school priorities?”

Perhaps the answer starts with getting children up, moving and learning.
